美術作家・木下理子による2024年2月に9日間のみ開催された展覧会「幽かなスリル」を収録する記録集。撮影は写真家の高野ユリカ。
木下理子は、身近な素材を扱いながら環境にあわせて作品を制作・配置し、それらをある時間や空間の中に展開させることで、その物理的な状況や現象の変化をも包摂しながら、作家が、或いは鑑賞者が世界を知覚する装置として作品を発表してきました。
建築家・西沢立衛の代表作の一つとして知られる東京・大田区の「森山邸」。この場所を作家は訪れ、そしてその場所で生活を営む森山さんとの交流から展覧会「幽かなスリル」は実現しました。
人の気配を感じながらもひっそりとした隠れ家のように住まうこともできる住宅の中で、限りなく多くの時間を過ごす森山さんの暮らし。
大量のレコードや蔵書に囲まれ、詩や芸術を愛でつつ、小さな古道具やエフェメラ、オブジェを誰に見せるわけでもなく配置換えしながら、この世界ではないところに隣接しているかのような美しい浮遊感のある空間で蓄えられてきた時間たち。
『幽かなスリル』は展示の記録集であると同時に、そのような作家が触発された森山邸の気配、その日を永遠に留めて繰り返し顕れるように、密やかな時間をその中に隠しています。

Moriyama-san’s house is lovely, bright, and hearty but seems somehow frail, urging you to feel sentimental.

A note on the exhibition titled “faint thrill” by artist Riko Kinoshita, which was held for only nine days in February 2024. Photographed by Yurika Kono.
Riko Kinoshita creates and arranges her works to suit the environment while handling familiar materials, and by developing them in a certain time and space, she has presented them as a device for the artist and the viewer to perceive the world, encompassing changes of physical conditions and phenomena.
The “Moriyama House” in Ota-ku, Tokyo, is known as one of architect Ryue Nishizawa’s masterpieces. The artist visited this place, and the exhibition “faint thrill” was realized through the friendship between Kinoshita and Moriyama-san who lives in the house. Moriyama-san spends almost all the time in his residence, which seems like a secluded hideaway while still feeling the presence of people. Surrounded by a bulk of records and books, he enjoys poetry and art, and rearranges small antiques, ephemeras, and objects in his room. The time accumulated in this beautiful space seems to float and connect to the other side of this world.
This book is not only an archive of the exhibition, but also includes the sort of atmosphere of Moriyama House that inspired the artist, so that the day in this house may be kept forever and recall itself repeatedly, containing a secret and precious time within it.
