写真家・高野ユリカの初写真集。建築家・白井晟一（1905-1983）の秋田県湯沢市の建築群をめぐり制作された作品《秋の日記》（2024）は、白井と親交のあった作家・林芙美子（1903-1951）の旅行記の身体の身振りを倣い、その土地にとってあり得たかもしれない身体の演技を、作家が試みた写真日記である。
本書は、土地や歴史、建築や空間、個人の物語のリサーチから着想し、大文字の歴史（history, his-story）として残らなかった、取りこぼされた個人史や生活史（her-story）の視点から制作を行ってきた高野が、白井と林の二人の思想に共通する「民衆」への眼差しや、「生活」への慈しみに共鳴し、応答した写真と日記によって構成され、過去から未来へと引き継がれる白井晟一の建築空間に新たな視点で接近する。
2024年9月に日比谷図書文化館特別展示室で開催された、本作を発表した同名個展「秋の日記」について、建築家の西川日満里と、批評家の中本憲利が書き下ろしのレビューを執筆・掲載する。

The first photobook by photographer Yurika Kono.
An Autumn Diary (2024) is a work created through visits to a group of buildings designed by architect Seiichi Shirai (1905–1983) in Yuzawa, Akita. In this photographic diary, Kono emulates the bodily gestures evoked in the travelogues of novelist Fumiko Hayashi (1903–1951), who shared a close relationship with Shirai, attempting to perform a bodily presence that might have existed in that place.
Drawing inspiration from research into land, history, architecture, space, and personal stories, Kono has developed her practice from the perspective of individual and everyday histories (her-stories) that have been overlooked or left out of grand narratives of history (history, his-story). Resonating with and responding to the attention Shirai and Hayashi both directed toward ordinary people, and their deep appreciation for everyday life, this book brings together photographs and diary entries that offer a new approach to Shirai’s architectural spaces, tracing how they are passed down from the past into the future.
The book also contains newly written reviews by architect Himari Saikawa and critic Kento Nakamoto on An Autumn Diary, the solo exhibition in which the work was first presented, held in September 2024 in the Special Exhibition Room of the Hibiya Library & Museum.
